Ms. Heather's son went fishing and found tadpoles!  Can you see how they are the same as our classroom tadpoles?  Can you see how they are different?

Hi everyone!  We hope you were able to see the Whiteman Air Force Base salute to Missouri's frontline workers today!  If not, enjoy these videos I took while on my walk.  They flew right over me!  If you have a chance this week, write or draw a thank you note to those people that are helping us through this difficult time.  Doctors, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, grocery store employees, etc.  The list is long!  Another idea is to draw a picture and mail it to a local nursing home to be shared with residents.

We loved seeing some of you on our Zoom call today!  Hope to see you again next week!  Some of our friends have been telling us about the animals they have been seeing on their walks.  Fun!

Earth Day Art - Earth using different mediums with Ms. Heather

Tomorrow is Earth Day 2020!  We are celebrating by showing you some fun things to do at home.  Remember to have fun!  Be creative if you don't have these exact supplies!  Experiment!

Option 1:

  • Supplies needed: basket coffee filter/paper towel (or similar), blue & green food coloring, water, tray/cookie sheet, scissors, and straw/eye dropper.
  • Cut out a circle.
  • Drop on food coloring.
  • Drop on water until the colors spread.
  • Transfer to another tray to dry.

Option 2:

  • Supplies needed: shaving cream, paper plate/heavy paper, blue & green food coloring, tray/cookie sheets, chopstick (or similar to swirl color), spatula (to smooth top of shaving cream), scissors and old credit card/plastic ruler (or similar to scrape off shaving cream).
  • Spray, spread & smooth shaving cream on to pan. Tip: Extend the project! Have children draw letters & shapes or write Earth Day words in the shaving cream before adding the food coloring!
  • Add food coloring to shaving cream.
  • Swirl colors with chopstick.
  • Add more color if needed. You want the least amount of white showing as you can.
  • Press plate/paper into shaving cream. Use a little pressure. Press the entire plate surface.
  • Slowly peel plate away. Place on tray.
  • Scrape away excess shaving cream using plastic ruler/old credit card or similar.

Dear Pre-K,

I hope you are all doing well! I miss you SO much!

Thank you for the pictures, letters, and videos that you have sent to us. It really makes me happy when I get those messages! I love to see that you are still working hard while we are apart. Keep up the good work! Make sure you get to have some recess time outside too! We are supposed to have some beautiful weather for the next couple days.

I have been busy working at home too. Last week both of my boys had birthdays, so I had to bake a lot of treats! I take Stella Luna for a walk every day. She loves it! I have some painting projects to start too!

I just wanted you all to know that I am thinking of each and every one of you! Take care and stay healthy!
